About PTO Shaft
A PTO shaft, also known as a power take-off shaft, is a critical component in agricultural machinery. Here are five key features of a PTO shaft:
- Length: This refers to the distance between the transmission and the receiving device. The proper length is crucial for efficient power transmission.
- Rated Power: The PTO shaft should have a rated power that matches the power requirements of the equipment it is connected to.
- Type and Connection Method: Different types of equipment require different types of PTO shafts and connection methods.
- Torque Transmission Capability: The PTO shaft should be able to transmit the required torque without failure.
- Environmental Requirements: The PTO shaft should be able to operate under the specific environmental conditions of the application, such as the need for a protective cover, sealing performance, and durability.
Choosing the Right PTO Shaft
Choosing the right PTO shaft involves considering several factors, including:
- Length: The distance between the drive and receiving devices.
- Rated Power: The power that the PTO shaft is designed to handle.
- Shaft Type and Connection Method: The type of shaft and the way it connects to the devices.
- Torque Transmission: The ability of the shaft to transfer torque effectively.
- Environmental Requirements: Considerations such as the need for a protective cover, sealing performance, and durability.
- Safety Features: Features like a reliable anti-jamming device, anti-jam pin, etc.
- Compatibility: The PTO shaft should be compatible with the devices it is connecting.
- Certification: Look for certifications like CE which indicate compliance with safety and quality standards.
The Importance of CE Certification
CE certification is crucial for PTO shafts for several reasons:
- Compliance with EU regulations: A CE-marked PTO shaft complies with relevant EU regulations and standards, ensuring its design, manufacture, and use meets the requirements of the European market.
- Market Access: A CE certificate is a prerequisite for selling PTO shafts in the European market.
- Reliable guarantee: A CE certification provides a reliable guarantee of the safety performance of the PTO shaft.
- Confidence: A CE-certified PTO shaft conveys confidence in its quality and safety.

PTO Shaft Structure
A PTO shaft consists of several parts, including:
- Housing
- Drive Shaft
- Universal Joint
- Protective Cover
- Connectors
Each part is made from high-quality materials. We also offer individual parts for sale. Here’s a look at the PTO shaft structure:

Applications of PTO Shafts
PTO shafts are used in a variety of settings, including:
- Agricultural Machinery: PTO shafts are typically used to connect tractors and agricultural equipment, such as mowers, harvesters, straw crushers, sprayers, mixers, etc.
- Industrial Equipment: PTO shafts are used to drive a variety of rotating equipment, such as pumps, generators, centrifuges, mixers, etc.
- Transport Equipment: PTO shafts are also used to drive certain transport equipment, such as trailers, semi-trailers, and tow trucks.
- Solar Systems: PTO shafts are commonly used to enable rotation and adjustment of tracker photovoltaic panels in solar systems.
Adjusting PTO Shaft Length
Here are the steps to adjust the length of a PTO shaft:
- Remove the plastic protective cover.
- Shorten the inner and outer tubes to the required length, both at the same time.
- Use a file to remove burrs.
- Shorten the inner and outer plastic tubes to the required length, both at the same time.
- Oil the inner tube of the steel pipe, then reinstall the drive shaft plastic protective cover.
