Key Features of PTO Shafts
PTO shafts, or Power Take-Off shafts, are essential components in many farming and industrial equipment. They are responsible for transmitting power from a tractor or other vehicle to the machine it’s driving. Here are five key features of PTO shafts:
- They can transmit a high amount of power
- They are designed to be easily connected and disconnected
- They can be telescopic to adjust for different distances between the drive and the driven machine
- They often come with safety shields to prevent accidents
- They can be fitted with various types of joints to suit different applications
Our PTO Shafts
Our PTO shafts are designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards. They are compatible with Walterscheid’s size specifications and can serve as perfect replacement for its PTO shafts. Our shafts are easy to install and provide a reliable, efficient power transfer.
Choosing the Right PTO Shaft
When selecting a PTO shaft, consider the following parameters:
- Length: The distance between the drive and the driven machine.
- Rated Power: The power that the PTO shaft needs to transmit.
- Shaft Type and Connection: The type of joints on the shaft and how it connects to the drive and the driven machine.
- Torque Transmission Capacity: The maximum torque that the PTO shaft can transmit.
- Environmental Requirements: The conditions under which the PTO shaft will operate, such as the need for protective shields, sealing performance, durability, etc.
- Safety Features: Safety features such as reliable anti-locking devices, anti-lock pins, etc.
- Adaptability: The ability of the PTO shaft to adapt to different types of machines and applications.
- Certifications: Certifications such as CE certification that attest to the quality and safety of the PTO shaft.
The Importance of CE Certification
CE Certification is of utmost importance for PTO shafts. It ensures that the shaft conforms to the regulations and standards of the European Union, providing a basic guarantee of safety. For PTO shafts sold in the European market, CE certification is a prerequisite. It provides a reliable guarantee of the safety performance of the PTO shaft and conveys confidence in the quality and safety of the product.
Our Certifications
Our PTO shafts are certified by CE, TS/16949, and ISO 9001. This underlines our commitment to deliver the highest quality products to our customers.

Structure of a PTO Shaft
A PTO shaft comprises several key parts: Housing, Drive Shaft, Universal Joint, Protective Cover, and Connectors. Each part is made from high-quality materials that ensure durability and efficiency. We also offer individual parts for sale.

Applications of PTO Shafts
PTO shafts have a wide range of applications:
- Agricultural Machinery: They are commonly used to connect tractors to farm equipment such as mowers, harvesters, straw crushers, sprayers, mixers, etc.
- Industrial Equipment: PTO shafts are used to drive various rotating equipment such as pumps, generators, centrifuges, mixers, etc.
- Transport Equipment: PTO shafts are also used to drive some transport equipment such as trailers, semi-trailers, and trolleys.
- Solar System: PTO shafts are typically used to rotate and adjust tracker photovoltaic panels.
Adjusting the Length of a PTO Shaft
Adjusting the length of a PTO shaft involves a few simple steps:
- Remove the plastic protective cover.
- Shorten the inner and outer tubes according to the required length. Both tubes should be shortened by the same length at a time.
- Remove burrs with a file.
- Shorten the inner and outer plastic tubes according to the required length. Both tubes should be shortened by the same length at a time.
- Oil the inner tube of the steel pipe and then reinstall the drive shaft plastic protective cover.
