Key Features of PTO Shaft
PTO shaft, or Power Take-Off shaft, is a critical component in the power delivery system of agricultural and industrial machinery. Here are five key features of a PTO shaft:
- It enables the transfer of power from the tractor to the implement.
- It can be customized in terms of length and connection size to fit different machinery.
- It is designed with universal joints at both ends to accommodate the movement of the machinery.
- It is often equipped with safety devices to prevent accidents.
- It is durable and designed to withstand harsh working conditions.
Our Compatible PTO Shaft
Our PTO shafts are designed and manufactured to match the size and installation method of Walterscheid’s model, providing a perfect replacement option. They come with an Italian system profile, a push-pull locking system, and a 1 3/8″ 6 splines implement version, just like the Walterscheid model. Plus, they are compatible with both ends wide-angle use.
Selecting the Right PTO Shaft
Choosing the right PTO shaft involves considering several parameters:
- Length: This refers to the distance between the power transmission and reception devices.
- Rated Power: The power output of the tractor that the shaft can handle.
- Shaft Type and Connection Method: The type of shaft and the method of connection to the tractor and implement.
- Torque Transmission Capacity: The amount of torque the shaft can transmit.
- Environmental Requirements: Considerations such as the shaft’s resistance to dust, water, and wear and tear.
- Safety Features: Safety devices such as reliable anti-entanglement devices and shear bolts.
- Compatibility: The shaft’s compatibility with the tractor and implement.
- Certification: Certifications such as CE marking which indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA).
Our CE Certified PTO Shaft
Our PTO shafts are CE certified, which means they comply with the relevant regulations and standards of the European Union. This certification provides a reliable guarantee of the safety performance of our PTO shafts, and also instills confidence in the quality and safety of our products. It is a mandatory requirement for selling PTO shafts in the European market.

PTO Shaft Structure
The PTO shaft comprises the following components:
- Housing: This is the outer protective layer of the shaft.
- Drive Shaft: This is the main body of the shaft that transmits power.
- Universal Joint: These joints allow the shaft to flex and accommodate movement.
- Protective Cover: This covers the universal joints for safety.
- Connectors: These are used to connect the shaft to the tractor and implement.
We also sell individual components of the PTO shaft. Contact us for details.

Applications of PTO Shaft
PTO shafts are widely used in various fields:
- Agricultural Machinery: They connect tractors to various agricultural implements such as mowers, harvesters, straw crushers, sprayers, mixers, etc.
- Industrial Equipment: PTO shafts are used to drive various rotating devices such as pumps, generators, centrifuges, mixers, etc.
- Transportation Equipment: They are also used to drive some transportation equipment such as trailers, semi-trailers, and trolleys.
- Solar Systems: PTO shafts are typically used to rotate and adjust the photovoltaic panels of tracking solar systems.
How to Adjust the Length of a PTO Shaft
To adjust the length of a PTO shaft, follow these steps:
- Remove the plastic protective cover.
- Shorten the inner and outer tubes to the required length. Ensure both tubes are shortened by the same length.
- Deburr the cut ends with a file.
- Shorten the inner and outer plastic tubes to the required length. Ensure both tubes are shortened by the same length.
- Lubricate the steel inner tube, then reinstall the drive shaft plastic protective cover.
